Kal Penn Joins “How I Met Your Mother” Cast

I love Kal Penn—he’s funny, smart and by God, he’s Indian. How many Indian Americans (what’s the politically correct term here?) do you see in pop culture today? Padma Lakshmi, anyone from “Slumdog Millionaire,” Kal Penn, [silence]. Nothing jumps immediately to mind. So, it’s been fun to track Kal Penn’s diverse career, from his burger-craving, bong-loving character Kumar to his jobs teaching and reppin’ at the White House to just “House.” And now, he’s leaving the White House (or should I say Multicultural House) again to take on a recurring role in “How I Met Your Mother.” Good for him, and good for us, too!
