Mochi started off last Saturday morning by visiting the Susan Woo presentation at the Hudson Hotel.

Prior to launching her own collection, Susan Woo had worked for the major fashion houses Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Derek Lam. So it was no surprise that we were impressed by the designer’s beautifully constructed, wearable designs.

Silhouettes had high waists and fabrics consisted of a soft, silky sheen. Most of the looks were a monochromatic black and white, but a few looks had punches of purple and blue.

Next up was the Andy & Debb runway show, back at the Bryant Park tents.

The designer duo showed very clean designs with geometric cuts. The show was styled by T Magazine’s fashion director, Anne Christensen, who sequenced the looks to gradually introduce color to the runway. Pastels opened the show, getting more intense in color with each new look.

The second half of the show included a lot of autumn colors, which was an interesting paradox for a spring collection. We saw more high-waisted skirts and tucked-in tops, and there were three hot pink looks that were especially fun.

Thuy was Mochi’s last show of the weekend. The designer Thuy Diep is not only an experienced fashion designer and graduate of Parsons the New School for Design, but she’s also an Ivy League graduate of Brown University.

While her resume is remarkable, her designs were equally impressive. There were lots of stylish jackets and uniquely cut dresses in her collection. We noticed lots of gold pieces at Thuy, as metallic appears to be a recurring trend in many of the spring/summer collections. Our favorite piece of the collection was the gold motorcycle jacket.
