ASPIRE (Asian Sisters Participating in Reaching Excellence) will hold its 5th Annual Asian American Women in Leadership (AAWIL) Conference on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Boston University’s Photonics Center.
This year’s theme is “Fearless Leadership: Taking Charge with Confidence,” and will include a morning keynote by Carmen Van Kerckhove, co-founder and president of a diversity education firm, New Demographic, and an afternoon keynote by Rosie Abriam, president and CEO of The Center for Asian Pacific American Women.

In a recent Marie Claire article, beauty director Ying Chu poses the provocative question, ”why are the West’s most powerful men coupling up with younger Asian women?”
Chu cites many Hollywood couples as examples, such as Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim, Zhang Ziyi and venture capitalist Vivi Nevo; and most famously, Woody Allen and his once-adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn.
