When my summer ended, I was deprived of my weekly fixes of crime-fighting action: “Burn Notice” and “Covert Affairs.” But then I discovered the new CW series, Nikita, starring Maggie Q, which began airing Sept. 9 on the CW—and that’s when I found my new fall season favorite.
When you start watching “Nikita,” you notice two very Hollywood-tastic features of Maggie Q – she looks amazing in a bikini and has a swagger that dominates the TV screen.

With a star-studded cast, “The Expendables,” (in theaters everywhere tomorrow, Aug. 13) featuring lead actor and producer Sylvester Stallone and actors Jason Statham and Jet Li, is a film packed with a lot of killing and explosions, but sadly, very little story. Maybe it’s too much to expect complicated characters from a film clearly targeted toward action-lovers. And boy, is there a lot of action in this movie. The first half of the Wonder Girls’ highly anticipated “Wonder World Tour,” which also featured K-pop group 2pm, wrapped up the weekend of June 12 in Anaheim, Calif. Last week, a South Korean report concluded that North Korea fired the torpedo that sank the Cheonan on March 26, due to identifiable markings from missile fragments. Forty-six South Korean sailors were killed in the incident. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton went this week to Asia on a diplomatic trip, originally aimed at pressing China to loosen economic regulations against the U.S. However, with the results of the South Korean investigation released, this issue has been brought to the forefront.

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, so if you haven’t yet thought of how to show your appreciation for the important women in your life, it’s getting close to crunch time. Here are some creative ideas to help you out.
Handmade creations. It’s always the little things that count, so making a card from scratch is the perfect, least expensive way to show you care. Get construction paper, and if you’re not artistically inclined, stick with making geometric-shaped patterns in different colors as a creative background for the card.
