Summer means sun, beach and…the oft-dreaded family vacation. Forced family time is not always our idea of fun, but there is hope yet—according to a recent Wall Street Journal article, hotels are now offering ways to help teens cope with, and even enjoy, family vacations.
Programs for young children have always been popular at hotels, but teens are often left with few, if any, activities, leaving them to wander hotel grounds in an effort to ditch their parents. But now teens have a vast array of activities and events to choose …

For the second half of season one, I couldn’t help but feel Glee has been missing something. Sure, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth brought star power, and the singing, particularly Lea Michele’s, is undoubtedly phenomenal. But the plot has lacked the sparkle of earlier episodes, and songs (where did the mash-ups go?) have similarly been lackluster.
Season two promises to be different, with Filipina singer Charice joining the Glee cast as an exchange student.

Public school lunch is comfort food at its best–sloppy joes, tater tots, pizza and ice cream. Today’s schoolchildren, however, can kiss such tasty, but extremely unhealthy, dishes goodbye.  First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign recently introduced “Chefs Move to Schools” as part of the campaign’s efforts to fight the nation’s childhood obesity epidemic. The program encourages chefs to adopt a local school and work with administrators and teachers to educate students about making healthier eating choices, as well as to develop nutritious cafeteria menus.

As a teenager, I was tantalized by glossy magazines promising a better beach body, sexier hair and cute boys. (Okay, I’ll admit—they still draw me in 10 years later).
