Rarely do I get the kitchen confused with my bathroom, but the more I use edible groceries as beauty products, the more this becomes a problem. The best of both worlds? Extra virgin olive oil. I could probably go on for days about the various uses of extra virgin olive oil, but for now I’ll stick to its brilliant use as a deep conditioner for long, straight, Asian hair.

Somebody may have just ousted BeneFit as the queen of packaging. Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand Tokidoki, known for their cute anime-adorned bags and T-shirts (occasionally sported by Fergie), is bringing their colorful designs to the world of makeup. The cosmetic line, which is presented exclusively at Sephora, launched online a few weeks ago and is slowing hitting stores throughout April. It’s a beauty match made in heaven. I just put on a thick layer of black eyeliner. Why? Because that’s my beauty equivalent of donning a mourning veil. Something as big as the departure of Shu Uemura from U.S. markets deserves its own funeral. Yesterday, L’Oréal announced that Shu Uemura will be removed from US retail stores and will only be available to American purchasers online at the brand’s website here. Carol Hamilton, president of L’Oréal USA’s Luxury Division explained: “We love the brand, but it is a very small part of our portfolio.”
