May kicked off Asian Pacific American Heritage month and last Thursday, three high profile Asian Americans—Joe Zee, creative director of ELLE magazine, Mark Munoz, one of the world’s top ranked UFC fighters, and actress Jamie Chung—took the stage at Webster Hall at the second annual Verizon Wireless Visionaries Conference to chat about what it was like to for them breaking into their fields. Hosted by Xixi Yang, the panelists dished out advice generously to the young audience.

Jasmine Rafael may be following in her brother AJ’s footsteps in the music industry, but she’s also been making a name for herself as a dancer. She’s part of a singing group called Blyss (with fellow YouTubers Cathy Nguyen, Kat Badar and Jenny Suk), and she’s also part of a dancing group called Paper Dolls (videos can be found on her YouTube channel). After what seems like years of casting, pitching to networks, and creating a story line, the supposed “Asian Jersey Shore” may have gotten green-lighted. Over the past few weeks, the K-Town Reality Show Facebook was revived with cast photos and even Kpop videos of the week, leaving many to leave comments and questions about the resurgence of activity. Here’s an interesting casting decision: Lucy Liu is going to play Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick Joan Watson in the CBS drama Elementary, which takes place in modern New York City. We can’t wait to see the relationship unfold between Holmes and a female Watson. Perhaps she will be more fierce? We hope so.
