As September Fashion Week quickly approaches, we keep getting news of fashion designers breaking out into the world of beauty. Charlotte Ronson recently launched her own makeup line at Sephora. Now, Alexander Wang takes a dip into beauty by monopolizing the best fashion accessory ever: nails. Like fashion designers Prabal Gurung and Tracy Reese, Wang will be collaborating with Sally Hansen to produce his own nail color collection. The colors will debut in his spring show, which is less than two weeks away.

But Lauren Levinger and Michael King are starting a new trend combining food and fashion with their new blog called Thefood-life.com. Last night’s 2010 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Awards was a huge night for Asian American designers, as three of the industry’s biggest emerging talents earned the Swarovski Award, which CFDA states is “where the biggest names of tomorrow make their debut.”
Jason Wu, the Taiwanese-born designer who rose to instant fame when First Lady Michelle Obama wore his dress during the inauguration, won the much-acclaimed Swarovski Award for Womenswear, beating out designers Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra.
