After months of anticipation, the Wonder Girls are finally coming to American entertainment. On February 2, the one-hour special Wonder Girls at the Apollo will premiere on Teen Nick, 8pm EST. The girls were recently interviewed by Access Hollywood about the movie’s charms. They say, “You get to see scenes about friendship, sisterhood, cat fights, and maybe a little bit of a romance!” Their English has improved a lot since the last time I heard them open for Jonas Brothers a couple of years ago. Mochi recently interviewed Shaun Evaristo, famous in the K-pop world for his work on Taeyang’s Wedding Dress, but he’s not the only Asian dancer the Korean entertainment industry is thirsting after.
Rino Nakasone of the hip-hop dance group Beat Freaks (known for their moves on Season 3 of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”) is K-pop’s hottest choreographer. Her work can be seen most prominently in the videos of S.M. Will.I.Am recently released his music video for his new single “Check It Out” featuring Nicki Minaj and it’s full of Asian influence. The video starts off with an Asian guy introducing the song in a funny, thick English accent, while phrases of the lyrics translated into Korean text pop up throughout the video. The Korean words likely have to do with the fact that Will.I.Am has been busy working with K-pop girl group 2NE1 on their U.S. debut (check out scenes of their recording sessions on 2NE1’s YouTube page here). …

Wonder Girls fans in Asia are finally getting to see the pop group return to their hometown of Seoul, but from the comfort of their own living rooms. A tourism commercial for the South Korean city featuring the girls (filmed in both Korean and Mandarin) was recently released and is set to air throughout the continent. It was recorded while the Wonder Girls were promoting their single, “2 Different Tears,” in Asia.
