After sitting through countless shows during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, there’s a point at which they begin to blend. However, it’s usually right around that point when something refreshing comes down the catwalk and you’re reawakened. Though all the hype’s in Milan right now for Fashion Week, we wanted to give a recap of a few more shows from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that are still lingering in our minds. On the last day of New York Fashion Week, Davidelfin was the first show on Mochi’s schedule. Before the show had even started, we noticed one particularly exciting item on the credits sheet: “Shoes, Christian Louboutin for Davidelfin.” Hope these will make it to stores!

Closing the weekend lineup of shows was Vassilios Kostetsos. A popular fashion staple in Greece, Kostetsos brought forth a bold collection this season. Colors were bright and silhouettes were dramatic. Leg-of-mutton sleeves (where a puffy shoulder is tapered down the arm into a fitted wrist) made a statement on top, while sky-high over-the-knee boots by Haris Kazakos drew attention downward.

Wearable and fashionable don’t always go together perfectly, but time and again Rebecca Taylor seems to do this perfectly. It’s for this reason that the New Zealand-born designer has gained her reputation in the American fashion scene, made apparent by the full house at her show in Bryant Park last Sunday, where even the standing room was at maximum capacity.

During the final week of New York Fashion Week, Carlos Miele took us to the beaches of Brazil and back. With tunes by Jorge Ben serving as the soundtrack to colorful prints and patterns, we were awoken and refreshed by the Brazilian flavor of Miele’s fall collection.
Geometric prints in tropical colors came out in body-hugging silhouettes. Crinkled fabrics added texture in contrast to the smoother lines that dominated the collection. Fine furs also made their way into a few looks, reminding us that these beautifully tropical styles will still hold …
