After months of anticipation, the Wonder Girls are finally coming to American entertainment. On February 2, the one-hour special Wonder Girls at the Apollo will premiere on Teen Nick, 8pm EST. The girls were recently interviewed by Access Hollywood about the movie’s charms. They say, “You get to see scenes about friendship, sisterhood, cat fights, and maybe a little bit of a romance!” Their English has improved a lot since the last time I heard them open for Jonas Brothers a couple of years ago. Beloved female superstars the Wonder Girls will be appearing again in American entertainment in the near future. Later this year, they will begin filming for a TeenNick movie temporarily titled “Wonder Girls at the Apollo.” The movie will feature the Wonder Girls in singing/dancing competition against School Gyrls, an all-girl group under Nick Cannon’s entertainment agency. I think this will be interesting to see because of the juxtaposition between an Asian girl group and an American girl group. I wonder if there will be any stylistic differences in their singing …

Wonder Girls fans in Asia are finally getting to see the pop group return to their hometown of Seoul, but from the comfort of their own living rooms. A tourism commercial for the South Korean city featuring the girls (filmed in both Korean and Mandarin) was recently released and is set to air throughout the continent. It was recorded while the Wonder Girls were promoting their single, “2 Different Tears,” in Asia.

The first half of the Wonder Girls’ highly anticipated “Wonder World Tour,” which also featured K-pop group 2pm, wrapped up the weekend of June 12 in Anaheim, Calif. On Saturday, the House of Blues Anaheim saw close to a hundred people lined up outside an hour before the show began. After their successful opening act for the Jonas Brothers’ tour last summer, the South Korean pop group Wonder Girls have gained great popularity and were even endorsed by Perez Hilton. Unfortunately, with the upset of Mimi (Sunmi) quitting the group for academic pursuits and Hae Lim joining as a new member, the girls have somewhat disappeared from the American music scene.
