To end day two of New York Fashion week, we made our way to the Carlos Campos presentation downtown.
Though designer Carlos Campos is known for his well-tailored, modern menswear (he recently won the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award for menswear design in 2009), he’s shown his ability to masterfully create women’s clothing as well, ever since his debut women’s wear line last fall for the spring/summer 2009 show.
His spring/summer 2010 collection had a good number of wearable separates. Campos also had his own version of the bowed fabric belt at the waist of a pair of metallic, plum colored shorts. While bright blue was the statement color, there were some very chic all black and all white looks.
The shoes in the collection are by Aldo and they’re available in stores now. The blue velvet finish ankle boots, especially, are a must-have item. The jewelry by Dannijo complemented the collection’s modern, sleek aesthetic.
Overall, the pieces were edgy and beautifully crafted, many of which are reasonably priced, though the more unique pieces may be more of an investment.
