It can be hard to get back into the rhythm of school, especially after a carefree summer, but what makes it so much easier for me are fall’s tv show premieres! Two of my favorites began last week, “Glee” and “Nikita.” I started following “Nikita” last year when I heard there was an Asian star in a leading role—in fact the whole show is named after Maggie Q’s character. Now how progressive is that for the American entertainment industry? The whole show seems to focus on female empowerment. Last season, we saw Xander Berkley (Percy), the male mastermind behind a secret government agency named Division, ousted by a powerful and very scary Melinda Clarke (Amanda), who is now in charge of tracking down Maggie Q (Nikita).
The opening scene of the Game Change episode is parallel those of last season. It’s the CW, so of course you’ll be getting the sex appeal factor (remember Maggie Q’s hot red bikini scene from season one?). I don’t want to give anything away, but let’s just say that she’s more classy this time around with a sexy little black dress, and within the first 10 minutes, she’s busting out signature Nikita fighting moves and beating all the bad boys.
The rest of the episode is just as action-packed and involves so many twists that at every commercial break, I literally was dying from suspense. Even if you didn’t see the first season, this season two premiere is worth a look. I admit, season one started off a little slow, but the producers and actors have all had time to mature into their roles. Season two’s premiere started off quite strong and really draws you in with new alliances and new betrayals. And, I wasn’t the only one who was excited for Nikita—1.9 million viewers tuned in to watch the show.
Catch new episodes of “Nikita” on the CW Friday nights 8/7c.
